About the Role
Typical Dispatcher Responsibilities
Driver Coordination & Communication:
∙ Assigning loads and routes to drivers based on availability and hours of service
∙ Coordinating pickup and delivery schedules with drivers and customers
∙ Maintaining regular communication with drivers throughout their routes
∙ Providing route guidance, traffic updates, and problem-solving support
∙ Managing driver breaks, fueling, and compliance with DOT regulations
Operations Management:
∙ Monitoring shipment status and ensuring on-time delivery
∙ Tracking driver locations using GPS and fleet management systems
∙ Updating customers on shipment status and addressing inquiries
∙ Handling last-minute changes, cancellations, or emergency situations
∙ Coordinating maintenance, breakdowns, and equipment issues
Documentation & Compliance:
∙ Maintaining accurate records of loads, routes, and driver hours
∙ Ensuring compliance with DOT hours of service regulations
∙ Processing shipping documents, bills of lading, and delivery confirmations
∙ Generating reports on driver performance, deliveries, and issues
∙ Coordinating with billing, customer service, and warehouse teams
Problem Solving:
∙ Resolving delivery delays, route issues, and customer complaints
∙ Managing unexpected situations (weather delays, traffic, breakdowns)
∙ Finding backup drivers or alternative solutions when problems arise
∙ De-escalating conflicts between drivers, customers, or other departments

Requirements
Required:
∙ High school diploma or GED (Associate’s degree preferred)
∙ 1-2 years of dispatch, logistics coordination, or transportation experience
∙ Strong understanding of DOT regulations and hours of service rules
∙ Excellent communication and customer service skills
∙ Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
∙ Proficiency with dispatch software, TMS, and Microsoft Office
∙ Problem-solving skills and ability to think quickly under pressure
∙ Professional phone manner and conflict resolution abilities
Preferred:
∙ 2+ years of dispatching experience in trucking or logistics
∙ Experience with specific transportation modes (LTL, FTL, last-mile, etc.)
∙ Knowledge of routing, load planning, and optimization
∙ Familiarity with ELD systems and GPS tracking
∙ Experience managing multiple drivers or routes simultaneously
∙ Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
∙ Understanding of geography and major shipping lanes in Texas/surrounding states
