About the Role
Typical Medical Assistant Responsibilities
Clinical Duties:
∙ Taking and recording patient vital signs and medical histories
∙ Preparing patients for examinations and procedures
∙ Assisting physicians during patient exams
∙ Performing EKGs, phlebotomy, and other diagnostic tests
∙ Administering injections and medications as directed
∙ Performing laboratory procedures (urinalysis, glucose testing, etc.)
∙ Sterilizing medical instruments and maintaining exam rooms
Administrative Duties:
∙ Scheduling patient appointments and managing calendars
∙ Checking patients in/out and verifying insurance information
∙ Maintaining accurate patient records in EHR systems
∙ Processing referrals and prior authorizations
∙ Answering phones and responding to patient inquiries
∙ Managing inventory and ordering medical supplies

Requirements
Required:
∙ High school diploma or GED
∙ Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA, or NCMA) strongly preferred
∙ Current CPR/BLS certification
∙ Knowledge of medical terminology and clinical procedures
∙ Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) and medical office software
∙ Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
∙ Excellent communication and patient service skills
∙ Ability to maintain patient confidentiality (HIPAA compliance)
Preferred:
∙ 1+ years of Medical Assistant experience in a clinical setting
∙ Experience with specific specialties (pediatrics, cardiology, family medicine, etc.)
∙ Phlebotomy certification
∙ X-ray or EKG certification
∙ Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred
∙ Experience with insurance verification and prior authorizations
